Evelyn Lozada, of Basketball Wives fame, has been under fire recently, after making comments that many described as racist and inappropriate against the show’s new recruit, CeCe Gutierrez, with some even adding that she was a negative influence for young women.
In the episode, Lozada asked Gutierrez about the nicknames she called her and Jennifer Williams: “Tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber.”
Gutierrez bashed her by calling her “Evil-yn,” prompting Lozada to hit with a racist stereotype: “I have a problem with you, Lee Lee.”
Gutierrez, who is Asian asked who is “Lee Lee” and co-star Malaysia Pargo explained it was a girl at a nail shop.
And while Lozada (nor Shaunie O’Neal) has yet to respond to the situation, it looks like some fans of the show have had it with her attitude, and want to see her gone from the screen.

A petition for her removal from the show has reportedly gathered over 6,000 signatures in a short time, and while it is not clear if it will have any impact on the producers’ thoughts on the matter, it makes the position of many fans of the show clear.
The petition reads: “This racial comment ‘slur’ is unacceptable, especially from a show with a majority female and minority cast. Regardless of being black, white, skinny, fat, diabetic, gay, lesbian, transgender, Asian … It’s unacceptable to make fun of someone because of these things, and Ms.Lozada has done this on multiple occasions throughout the shows run time. The viewers of VH1’s ‘Basketball Wives’ demand Ms.Lozada be terminated from employment indefinitely … by the Executive Producer Shaunie O’Neal or the other VH1 underlying personnel.”

It is also worth noting that this is just the largest petition so far, with multiple smaller ones also drawing a lot of attention.
There has also been active discussion about Lozada and her attitude on social media, and many fans of the show have chimed in to express their disappointment over the fact that she is still allowed on the set of the reality TV series.

Tensions have been growing rapidly in the controversial situation, and some have pointed out that the only viable option left for Lozada at this point is to offer a public statement and a sincere apology and hope for the best.

Even if the producers of the show do not mind her presence on the show, if the backlash against her grows too strong, they might be forced to step in if they want to protect their own ratings.
