Derrick Lewis is officially on the worst losing streak of his career.
The UFC fan favourite was hoping to get back on track by beating Sergey Spivak in the main event of UFC Vegas 68 on Saturday night.
However, ‘The Black Beast’ was quickly taken down and submitted by his opponent who secured the biggest win of his career in just over three minutes at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
Spivak Spivak scored six takedowns during the brief contest before ending the fight with an arm-triangle choke submission to make it six wins from his last seven fights.
He said during his post-fight interview: “Derrick Lewis is great. He fought two times for the title. He’s great, he’s a legend for me.
"I love him. Today, this is my time. ‘Polar Bear’ is here, ‘Polar Bear’ is coming. Give me somebody from the top five.”
The 28-year-old Moldovan, whose last loss was against British UFC star Tom Aspinall in 2021, is now gunning for a shot at Jon Jones who fights Ciryl Gane for the recently vacant heavyweight title at UFC 285 on March 4.
Spivak added: “I want Jon Jones. I think this is good. Jon Jones, I respect you so much, sorry bro, but I’m coming.”

Despite getting into great shape ahead of UFC Vegas 68, Lewis has now lost three consecutive fights and his time as an elite MMA heavyweight appears to be over.
At the peak of his powers, the 37-year-old picked up wins over Gabriel Gonzaga, Roy Nelson, Francis Ngannou, Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes.
He became a huge star after scoring 13 UFC knockouts – the most in company history – and making fans laugh with his wacky post-fight interviews that included calling out ‘fine’ MMA icon Ronda Rousey in 2017.
Lewis appeared to be fighting for his career at UFC Vegas 68 after suffering back-to-back knockout losses against Tai Tuivasa and Sergei Pavlovich who finished him in under one minute last July.
The 38-fight veteran is yet to comment on his latest defeat and it remains unclear if this is the final time Lewis will compete inside the UFC octagon.
