Foss married Samantha's mother Constance, after divorcing his first wife, with whom he had two children.
In their eulogy, Samantha told mourners: 'Dad, before you tell me to respect the dead, please remember that you disrespected and disregarded the lives and deaths of entire communities of people with your ideologies.

The 20,000 square foot property had six bedrooms, and was tucked in a 3.4-acre estate. According to the listing, there was elevator access to all three storys, a billiard room and theater.

Foss created the Don Foss Annual Scholarship in 1998, and the Don Foss Endowed Scholarship in 2015, which have awarded more than 630 scholarships to students pursuing careers in the automotive industry at Northwood University.
In 2016, he established a private fund, Car Dealers Care National Foundation, which gives back to the community through his personal philanthropy and CarRite, a chain of dealerships he founded in 2011.
